People like me
Thread: Eliza's diary
The capital was totally different from the warehouse. The air felt cleaner, the roads and pavements were free of litter and junk. The people dressed more smartly and walked around with a sense of poise. Two girls passed me and sniggered, it caused a sudden surge of my memories to come back. Before my deep sleep, something similar to this had happened. I knew it had something to do with the way I looked. So I decided to take a look in one of the nearby shops.
"Look at this dress, it really is pretty!" A young girl told her mother.
"Yeah it definately is, but it's too pricey!" The mother replied.
That was when I remembered. I didn't have much money with me, I couldn't possibly afford something as beautiful as that.
"Yes you can."
I placed my hand over my mouth as I turned.
"Shocked?" I nodded my head. It was a boy roughly about my age.
"What's you name?" He asked. Even though my memories weren't completely restored I knew I should never talk to strangers.
"Eliza? That's a real sweet name." He said as he smiled.
"How did you know?!" I replied stunned.
"How old are you?" He asked once more without answering my question.
"Why should I tell you?"
"Seventeen, I see..." And he nodded his head while scratching his head.
"Then, do you want that dress? It would definately look good on you." He smiled once more as he pointed to that dress.
Even though I didn't know who he was, he had a charming smile. A smile sweet enough to melt a girl's heart. Yes, he was that good looking. "I'm good looking aren't I?" He smiled once again. I took a step back embarrassed. How did he know I was thinking that? It's as though he could read my mind!
"Oh yeah, I can do that." He took a step forward, whispering into my ear as he pulled his hood over his head. "Follow me." He said as he took the dress to the counter. He placed the dress on the counter as he looked at the cashier.
"How may I help you sir?" The cashier asked. No reply, the boy just kept looking in the cashier's direction. He seemed as though he was looking at the cashier but at a loss for words. "Excuse me sir? Are you going to buy the-" The cashier stopped her sentence halfway and nodded her head as she scanned the dress. "Thank you for shopping at Stellar's Boutique, please come again." She said with a smile. He took the bag containing the dress and left the shop. "Hey, you coming out or what?"
I hurriedly left the shop. "You! What you just did was tantamount to stealing!"
He smirked as he said, "No. It's just using my ability well. You should put yours to good use too." He handed me the bag and turned to walk away. "Here, my gift to you."
"Ability? Wait a moment! You seem to know quite a bit about these special abilities. Please tell me all about it!" I pleaded. He turned and pulled on my arm. "Follow me then."
He entered a empty house, it smelled musty. Apparently, It didn't seem like anyone was living there. He opened up a door leading to the house's cellar.
"Hey Josh, I brought Eliza. She's a hottie to boot!" He hollered.
I walked down the creaking steps, the cellar smelled worse than the house. A musty smelled mixed with the scent of wine. As soon as my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I could make out a rectangular shaped table with five chairs tucked in, and one was taken. The man sitting down spoke. "So you're Eliza? Pardon Neal here. he must have scared you with his mind reading antics. I'm Josh. Oh and Randal, could you light the place up?"
Neal smiled at me once more as he took a seat and motioned me to sit with him. The candles lit up, and Randal took a seat. The three men looked awfully different from each other. Neal was young but dressed sloppily, Josh dressed smartly making himself look very rich and presentable and Randal just looked rather aged and sloppy. "She's just discovered her ability." Neal said.
"How did you know? Did you read my mind again?"
"I don't need to, it's written all over your face. I don't know a thing, enlighten me." He sniggered.
"Now stop it Neal. Could you tell what your powers are?" Josh asked.
"I don't really know... The ability to make things levitate I suppose?"
"Knew that." Neal smirked. Randal grunted as he opened his hand and swung it as though he was throwing a ball. I gasped and Neal bent down as a fireball flew over him dissipating instantaneously as it hit the wall.
"That's dangerous, thank God I read your mind before that happened."
"Now you two stop it. Eliza I know this is sudden, but how would you like to help us? To find the answers we are all looking for."
"Come on Eliza, I'm sure you have a lot of unanswered questions in your head that even I can't answer." Neal smiled.
"I guess I could." I replied without hesitation, this was what I was looking for. "But provided that HE stops looking into my head."
"Agreed." Josh said as he smacked Neal's head with one hand and the other stretched out to offer me a handshake. I stood up and took it. This is what I had been searching for and it appeared to me so quickly. Is it fate?
"Of course."
"Stop that." And I smacked him.
