Thread: Eliza's Diary
It was a bright and sunny day, a little colder than usual though. The temperature here at the deserts can really make one sweat. I got up and checked the training schedule, I make it a point to check it every morning because it gives me delight. Delight because it would show me the end of this rigorous training. Now, I had mixed feelings, I was delighted that today was the last day of training but that also meant that I had to fight against someone my strength to prove that I was improving. I had so dreaded this day.
Lyzerg pounded on my door. "Hey Eliza! You slowpoke, hurry up. Your battle is the first one for the next set!"
"I know I know! Stop chasing me!" I grumbled. I should have slept in and conveniently missed this training day.
The two of us entered a huge room. The room had no furniture, totally empty except for the built in ceiling lights and worse of all, it was underground. It made me feel all queasy. The room was so big that if were to walk from one end to the other it would take me like forever. Okay I am exaggerating, but the room was really humongous. Vaskarth stood at the other end of the room in front of the exit, holding some sort of small teeny weeny device.
"The winner is Neal. I see you have improved tremendously." Vaskarth said as his voice echoed around the room.
"What?" I exclaimed. " Neal had his match already? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" I grumbled as I hit Lyzerg on the shoulder.
"Ow! I did, I did! But you didn't wake up. I'm telling you, you are one heavy sleep-" Vaskarth interrupted before Lyzerg could finish his sentence. "Will Eliza step forward please. We would like to see how much you have improved."
I half jogged, half walked to the center of the room. On the way, I was stopped by Neal as he put his arm over my chest. Good luck. I braced myself as I walked over to my opponent for the day. He was shorter than me and his dark green hair was tied back into a short ponytail. His face was dirtied and had grease all over his hands. It seemed like he was working with machines just before he came here. "My name is Husky." He said it so suddenly that it shocked me.
"A dog?" I blurted out without any thought. I thought the young boy was going to get mad.
"Yeah I know, I get that often. I do look like a wolf." He said as he smiled.
"Begin!" Vaskarth shouted. Immediately as he said that, Husky disappeared right before my very eyes. I took a step back, totally not aware that I was in a fight. I only realized when I had gotten knocked off my feet and landed on my bottom. "Hey! Pay attention!" Husky shouted as he disappeared once more. Invisibilty? I thought as I got up. Then I received a punch to my stomach that sent me tumbling backwards.
"That hurts! Don't you know how to take it easy on a girl?" I shouted. Husky appeared in front of me as he shrugged, I took this chance to send him flying towards the wall, which he did. I was proud of myself, my first attack that actually succeded.
Or not. As soon as he slammed against the wall, he pushed himself off and started to run as he touched the gorund. He disappeared again. I knew what his power was! Superhuman Speed! I couldn't get hit by another of those speed punches, I would get knocked out immediately. I felt a punch brushing against my face and I took that chance to hold onto him. I knew I was going to be dragged into such a speed that blurred me, but it didn't happen.
I held onto him and there he was, in a running position, but stationary. "Why didn't you run? Why did you stop?" I asked him in confusion. "Did you decide to take it easy?" I was dumbfounded. He struggled to move but he couldn't, he then shouted at me, "You win! You win! What did you do to me? I can't move!" I was in shock. Vaskarth then applauded me as a signal that I won. He placed his arms on my shoulder, "Eliza, I think I know what your ability is. stop holding on to Husky." I did what he said and slowly let go of Husky as I calmed myself down. The moment I had calmed down, Husky disappeared and slammed straight into the wall with a very loud thud and crack.
"I-I think I broke my wrist!" He wailed as he rolled on the floor. Medics rushed to attend to him.
"Eliza. I think your power is to manipulate movement. As you did to him, you 'froze' him halfway while he was running and when you let go he could move again but he himself was not aware. That is quite some power you have there. You'd be a great asset to you team." Vaskarth comforted me as he ruffled my hair as though I were his sister.
I turned around, there they were. Lyzerg jumping up and down yelling out my name, Josh and Randal applauding and Neal just smiled. It was the first time I had seen a smile like that from him, I liked it. I smiled back. My team, my friends, my new family, I was comfortable with them and comforted by their presence. I was totally ready for any challenges.

Training
Thread: Eliza's Diary
Yeah great. So I was the weakest link and that got me into a hell lot of training for the past few days. My training was to levitate an object as high, as far and as long as I could. I learned a little bit more on what I could do and what I couldn't. What I could do was give the object a pushing force with my powers to make it shoot to any direction, like a bullet, and not just levitate it. What I couldn't do was to levitate or shoot a heavy object while moving.
I had already practiced for what seemed like hours, I was working up a sweat and I think I stank. I couldn't take it, I had to bath. "No, no. You can't do that." Neal said as he laid on a couch in the same room I was in. Flipping the page of his magazine, he added, "Vaskarth said you are to do four hours and you only did three and a half."
"Neal, come on!" I pleaded with him. "It's only half an hour, just close an eye and let me go okay?"
Neal sat upright and put his magazine on his lap. "Alright, I'll close both eyes and you can give me a kiss and you're free to go." He smirked as he said it.
"Not a chance." I gave him a push with a little boost from my powers and toppled him backwards with the couch. I burst out in laughter. "That hurt! No chance, continue practicing!" Neal shouted while he was on the floor.
I grumbled as I went back to my practicing. This whole training thing was not all that bad actually. Our team had gotten closer, and even better Neal was beginning to open up and I didn't think he was that much of a jerk anymore. What was even better now was that I was able to block Neal from reading my inner thoughts, it seemed like I was immune to it and I naturally had a defense mechanism to automatically block it with time. That was great! Neal couldn't read my mind ever.
"Don't be too smug about it Eliza." Neal laughed. "When your emotions are stronger it kinda makes it easier to read you."
"Well just don't read people, it's an invasion of privacy! That's what I don't like." I frowned at him. Even though I'm arguing with Neal, it still beats being out there, with our lives on the line, fighting for survival.

A team like us
Thread: Eliza's diary
We had left the capital, we were definitely very far away, but I still felt something very bad was going to happen. You know? Women's intuition? Most of the time it's spot on, since men walked the earth, women always had this sixth sense, much more than men. We were on the truck for a long time, most of the time Randal was driving. On other occasion's when Randal needed to catch a nap, he'd sit at the back with us and a 'hired' driver would drive. And why couldn't we just use a hired driver all the way you ask? I was against that and so was Josh.
Neal sat at a corner sleeping, Lyzerg took a whole bench as he laid down to sleep. I found it hard to sleep however. I kept waking up, a terrible thing was about to happen, I couldn't shake off the feeling. The truck came to a complete stop. "We've finally reached." Josh told us. "Our other headquarters." Randal grunted as he opened the back door. Bright light flooded the darkness that we always saw in the back. Lyzerg and Neal were forcibly awakened from their sleep because of the extremely bright light.
We all stepped out of the truck, we were in a totally different city. "This, is the Sahara city. Used to be just deserts on and on. But having found a water source, its now practically 'live-able' here." Josh told us as he led us a huge dome shaped stone building. I looked around, everyone seemed to be happy, some soldiers walking around, but overall no discrimination, no tight security, no secrets.
We entered the dome and after a bit of walking and climbing, we finally reached what seemed to be the chief's room. "Welcome, team from the capital. It seems that you are rather small though... Your team that is." A young man with a real gruff voice greeted us. He had scars on his face and his red hair was totally ruffed up. Unkempt. That was the first thing that came to my mind.
"I would like you all to be honest. Because the ground you're standing on is our Sahara city." As he said that, infantrymen on his left and right bowed their heads for a moment to respect their land. "...and in our Sahara team, we keep no secrets. As you're my guests, I'll start first." He began as he cleared his throat.
"My powers are the ability to manipulate any form of liquid. I'm definitely at 'High B' class in terms of rating of powers according to scientists rates. I'm proud to say that. My name is Vaskarth, chief of the Sahara rebellion team. So I guess you should all know what you should do now?" He said gruffly.
"I'm Lyzerg Ezzabell! I copy people's powers for a certain time, I don't know what are the true extents of my powers though, I'm not really proud at how well I can control my ability, so I'd say a 'D' class?"
"Neal. Mind manipulation. I'm proud to say that I'd be at best 'Middle C' Class." Neal said as he smiled.
"Randal. Fire. 'B' class."
Then it was my turn. I had no clue how to answer him. "Uhh-uhh, Eliza. I make objects fly I guess? Class? I-I-I'm not sure about that..." I was totally nervous! But then Josh started talking immediately after I was at a loss for words.
"Josh. No powers. I'm just really strong so you can't rate me. For Eliza, she has potential, so I'd say ''D' or 'E' class." Josh smiled, a big smile.
"So...Eliza huh? You're the weakest link. You gotta go through more training." Vaskarth said. I thought Josh was going to help me, but he didn't. In fact I think he had insulted me! I was so mad at Josh. "To enlighten you girl. The classes start from 'F' then it becomes 'E', 'D', 'C', 'B', 'A'. It's quite a stupid ranking system but it does help in gauging people's abilities. So apparently from what your captain says, you are near the bottom. But be glad, at least you're not at the failure level." He smirked.
Life here wasn't going to be enjoyable as I expected it to be. This couldn't be the terrible thing I sensed about right?

Special Op's team
Thread: Eliza's diary
I stepped back as one of the girls pointed her gun at me. Apparently, the flow of the battle was something like this at this point of time. Lyzerg was stuck in the truck trying to pull himself out while the girl that landed him in that situation in the first place was walking towards him. Josh was shooting like a maniac, cornering one of the girls that he was fighting against, giving her no chance at all to counterattack. Randal was fighting with a girl who could somehow make metal objects attack him by shooting it at him from all directions.
Neal and I were kinda in a struggle. Neal's ability was utterly useless and he was fighting against a girl who could negate forces. Me? I was fighting a person who could manipulate electricity. Not a fair fight you would agree.
I hid behind a barrel before a blast of electric nearly made a hole at where I was standing a while ago. The girl did a somersault over the barrel, landing right in front of me. She turned intending to give me another blast of electricity, but I flung my hand upwards, sending her a few feet up into the air before letting her crash onto the ground. I took the chance to find another hiding place as she held her head or well her helmet, trying to get herself up. I was hiding in the guard post. It was so easy to escape now, I just had to walk right past the gates. But of course, I'd be injured badly first.
Somehow without knowing how, I felt some kind of force coming from behind my back. It felt dangerous and I knew I had to come out from where I was hiding. I jumped out as quick as I could. Soon after the guard post exploded with a crackling sound. Electricity was coursing through whatever it had just decimated. I was shocked, I knew that I had to get out of that place. But I didn't why I suddenly knew.
Suddenly a girl dropped from the sky creating a cratered surface with her body. She groaned in agony as she held her ribs. Her helmet had a huge crack in it, her visor had shattered. I could see a rather young girl around the age of 12. They even had small kids in the army. I was shocked. "ELIZA, DON'T DREAM." Lyzerg called out as he stuck out his palm while running to me.
I was flung aside before electricity flashed past me once again. Lyzerg had used my ability on me to push me aside. I had to thank him and myself for that. He stopped infront of the electric manipulator and gave her a punch on her helmet. His punch had a humongous amount of force, it nearly sent her flying, but he pulled her back before giving her a punch in the side. A loud cracking sound was heard as the girl screamed. "Lyzerg! What did you do?" I shouted at him.
"Nothing, I just gave her a punch, with her friend's superhuman strength."
So that's how the girl pushed Lyzerg into the side of the truck. But for Lyzerg to discover and utilize her power in such a short amount of time was incredible.
"I feel great! With this superhuman strength I can even run without feeling tired!" He said haughtily.
The fight was over just like that. It was that quick and I didn't do much, that made me feel pretty useless. Don't feel that way Eliza! Lyzerg told me. He helped me up as Neal walked over, a little out of breath. Apparently his battle seemed to be rather tiring for him. "No, I don't exercise much thats why." He answered me.
Josh walked over as he threw his rifles onto the ground. His opponent had not even managed to even touch him but knelt on the ground instead. I swore I saw tears as she put on her helmet again, Josh must have made her cry somehow. Even managing to take off her helmet. I was in awe. Randal finished his battle unscathed too, but I wasn't really in awe. He had to burn nearly everything around him.
"I think its about time we left this rotten place." Neal said as he was nearly out of breath.
"Yeah, about time. Let's go team." Josh said with a smile on his face.

Escape
Thread: Eliza's diary
It was past midnight. I didn't quite get why Josh picked midnight to escape from the capital. At night, the guards doubled, and security is tighter than ever. I crept down to the side of the truck as I turned to Neal looking for an explanation.
Maybe he finds it much more meaningful and thrilling?
Bullshit. He must have some other logical explanation. From what I see Josh wasn't that kind of an irrational person. Josh turned and began to brief us in a hushed tone. "Reason why I picked the night is that we would be less visible, unless they have night efficient equipment. If they do, it's a mislook on my part, but they will definitely be tired and lazy. It's night after all." He assured us all.
Not much of assurance to me. Lyzerg stood up and told all of us. I'll start. He stepped from behind the truck with his hands in his pockets, probably to hide his excitement of using Neal's ability. The guards turned and pointed their guns at him. "Hey you, put your hands-" They stopped and Lyzerg motioned for us to come out of our hiding place.
"Here you go, guns and the cards for the gate and that truck." The guard said as he pointed to the truck which we were hiding behind a moment ago. "Uniforms too." Lyzerg said as he took four uniforms and handed them to the guys. "I could get used to this power." Lyzerg smirked.
"Where's my uniform?" I asked.
"Oh, they don't have one for girls." Lyzerg answered.
"What! Against girls are we now?"
"No, it's just that the girls uniforms are only available inside. The girls are usually in the special op's team." Lyzerg said defending himself.
We all walked towards the truck, but Neal didn't move. "You're too soft Ezzabell. You should finish them. Like this." As he said that he turned around and walked towards us. The guards had died, without any wounds.
"Neal, thats just cruel." Lyzerg said as he entered the back of the truck and sat down. "And why do Randal and Josh get to sit in front?"
"Randal's the only one who can drive properly and Josh gives him the directions." I replied.
I turned and caught Neal glancing in my direction before staring at Lyzerg.
"Oh, how did you finish them off Neal?" I asked.
"Evolved abilities I guess?" He answered. "After what Mell told me, I figured I have to get better, otherwise I can never beat someone like him."
"And what is your evolved ability?" Lyzerg asked.
"I won't tell you. You'd copy that too."
"Oh man, its not like I can copy it permantly."
"You might? As an evolution of your abilities." Neal said.
"But you haven't answered me. I asked you the question!" I said.
I just turned them into a comatose state. I got to learn about the brain before I can do any manupilating on it. So learning more about it, I can even cause real death the next time.
Neal was good at using his ability. Even while he was explaning it to me, he looked in another direction acting as though he wasn't doing anything. That was cool. The truck jerked.
A guard poked his head through the window. "What's your business 'ere?" The guard was silent for awhile before giving another card to Randal. "ere's a card for the next stop. You better be careful 'ough, the special op's team and some mercs are on duty at the immigration checkpoint. Even guards like us can be suspected of being spies or 'ose intruders."
Randal replied. "Yeah."
"Wanna cup o' coffee before you leave?" The guard asked all of us.
"Yeah, then make that five then." Josh asked as he smiled.
"-aight then." He said as he lifted his elbow of the door before coming back with 5 cans of coffee.
"ere you go." He said as he nodded his head.
We drove off scot free yet again. "I see, using your ability is rather easy. Just make those guards your good friends and everythings easy." Lyzerg said. It was another long drive again before we finally stopped at the immigrations checkpoint. Two girls in tight fitted black suits and helmets stood infront of the truck, both holding guns in their hands. "The special op's team. Get ready." Josh said as he stepped out with two rifles. Josh taught you how to fight with your ability right? Neal asked. Yeah he did. I answered.
We all stepped out and placed our hands against the truck as they searched us. "Oh man, this must be my lucky day with two girls searching me." Lyzerg said as he let them search him.
"Keep your mouth shut you dirty intruder." One of the girls said. I couldn't tell whether or not she was angry with that helmet covering her face.
"Your ability is manipulating minds too?" Lyzerg asked in shocked.
"No, its just that these helmets don't let you mess our minds." The girl said as she placed her pistol in her holder.
Suddenly there was a crunching sound as Lyzerg got pushed into it. The truck now had his shape. "...this, is my power." The girl said as she lifted the truck, throwing it a few metres away, with Lyzerg stuck to its side. The other girl threw a punch at Neal, but he dodged. "Eliza, I don't just read minds. I fight too." Neal said. Three more girls appeared as they said in unison.
"We can't let you go past these walls that lead out of the capital. You all will die here."

The bright red hair
Thread: Neal's Diary
I opened my eyes, voices were ringing in my head. "Could you all please stop talking?" I groaned.
"We aren't." A girl's voice answered.
I held my head as I sat up. The last thing I remember was Mell thrashing me and Randal and Mell's groan. My head was throbbing hard. "Where did Mell go?"
"He literally disappeared after Josh punched him." Eliza answered me.
"How did you even manage to punch him josh?" I asked.
"Well, I can't say. Let's just say, I'm really strong." Josh smiled.
"Yeah physically you are. But you aren't as strong as someone who has superhuman strength!"\
"Oh I don't know. We'll see when the time comes."
My vision was finally clear again and I could see where I was. In the attic of our base. "I never knew we had a bed this comfy?" I said. "You asked for it, remember loser?" Randal scoffed as he sat on the floor drinking. I could hear someone walking up the stairs, I tried to read who it was but there was a interference. A guy with bright red hair appeared. "Oh dear, am I intruding?"
"No no, you came at the right time." Josh answered. "Neal, meet your new team mate."
"Hello, I'm Lyzerg, Lyzerg Ezzabell." The guy smiled.
He's cute. I could hear Eliza think.
"Yeah. I see. Powers are copying the abilities of other." I said.
"Oh so you can read minds." Lyzerg said. I closed my eyes and lay on the bed, I didn't want someone like him to join. Another hindrance.
Yeah, I'm a hindrance cause I can't be read? Well the easiest to read and manupilate here is Eliza right? Lyzerg said to me.
You sure are capable of adapting real quickly. I replied.
"So the extent of your abilities right now are to copy people's ability when you know of it, and it only when you're around them you can use the abilities." Josh said.
"Why right now?" Lyzerg asked.
"I read through the files which I have gotten with Eliza. It seems our abilities aren't just limited to what we have now. It can evolve."
"Yeah, like what Mell said to me. I'm weak because I'm too lazy to evolve my abilities."
"So true Neal." Eliza said.
"Oh shut up." I rebutted.
"Either way. The higher ups in the facility have somehow realized that their base had been infiltrated and are coming after us. They even know who we are." Josh said worriedly.
"The people who can escape easily, would be Eliza and Lyzerg. But that was if that Mell wasn't here." I said.
"Well not to worry, if I'm around, he can't stop you." Josh reassured me. "We can all escape easily."

The mysterious man
Thread: Neal's diary
I turned to my left and then right. Two ways to go, now not being able to read anybody's mind to find out which is the right way is quite horrible. Randal stepped in front of me and turned to the right, and he pointed to the left, staring me as though it was where he wanted me to go. Well at least he made the choice for me. I don't like to think to much.
The passageway was dull and boring. Metal walls on both my sides for as long as I walked. A guard was walking my way, I waved and he waved back. Another guard came over with a box of donuts and handed me one. Everything was going too well, another guard passed me a access card. I took the lift down to one of the basements. There wasn't a single mind to read, only a long passage with a huge door. I swiped the card and the door opened, immediately a whole bunch of soldiers pointed electromagnetic spears and pistols at me.
"Put your hands in the air!" One guard shouted as he stepped forward.
"You're the captain of this squad?" I said.
"How'd you know?" The captain demanded an answer from me.
A soldier dropped unto the floor with blood flowing from his head. "You! new recruit! Why did you shoot him?"
"Simple, I made him." I smiled.
In a matter of minutes, the whole squad was killed. And the new recruit killed himself too, it wasn't my fault, I didn't do anything anyway. I was in a warehouse of sorts, huge machines and pipes placed all over the place. I walked up a flight of metal steps to a metal walk way. I walked towards the control room when a voice spoke to me.
"Using your powers again?" It was a very thin man in a black tuxedo with a black hat and a black tie. "All black? Is that a new dress code or something?" I could only see the man's smile as he pushed his hat forward to cover his eyes.
"You want to see my face? Then you should remove that hood first."
"Nah, no thanks. Why not read my mind?" I asked.
"What makes you think I can?"
"You're the guy that enters my dreams. Of course you can."
"Well I could be a dream weaver."
"Yeah if that was your ability, I'm a girl."
"Well aren't you one?" He chuckled.
I entered his mind. I had to make him kill himself, this man pissed me off. But I couldn't I was unable to do anything, I felt as though a hand pushed me out of his mind. I felt a hand then on my neck. "Choking me?" I asked.
"No, I'm just gonna throw you aside, Literally." As soon as he said that I felt myself flung towards the side. My hand met the wall and a cunching sound was heard as I fell. Shit, my hand. Hurts like hell. "You can't defeat me with those simple mind tricks of yours as long as you don't evolve it further. You are lazy by nature, that's what makes you weak." He said as he stood above me.
Then I saw his face. He had black wavy shoulder length hair and his fringe was pushed to the back. His stare was piercing. Cold green eyes. A ball of fire hurled towards the man but was stopped, right before it touched him.
"Gee, it's getting hot." He said as the fire ball vanished.
"Neal, we gotta go." It was Randal.
"Ah. Well a real strong opponent. I feel like I should introduce myself." The man said as he took a bow.
"Freelance odd job man, Mell Thrift de Olthzaar. Nice to meet you." He said as he raised his hat above his head and place it back again. Randal grunted.
Randal started running towards Mell and gave him a punch of fire. Mell turned his body, dodging the attack by an inch only retaliating by placing his palm against Randal's stomach. Randal jerked before kneeling on the floor coughing out blood. "My personal favourite, shockwave manipulation. Perfect for hand to hand combat." Randal lunged at his legs causing Mell to lose balance. "Tch, and when you don't want them close to you. I use my basic, telekenesis." He swung his hand forward and Randal flew backwards hitting against the railing before falling on the floor.
"You mother-" I began.
He raised his hand and I was choking. "Telekenesis?" I gapsed for air. My energy was slowly draining away, it was definitely his doing. He let go of his telekentic hold on my neck and turned to Randal. "Absorbing of energy, a rather useless power though." Mell said. "...The energy has to go somewhere but not me. So instead of giving it to him, I'll give it back to you." Suddenly all my energy had returned to me. He did it again, this time absorbing more and returning it with a great force. It was excruciating when the energy forced its way back.
"Oh just a way of torture." He laughed.
My mind was going blank. My eyes were closing, I could only hear the sound of a punch and the groaning of Mell before hearing Eliza's voice.
"NEAL, are you alright!?" Eliza asked. I blacked out.
