My Evolution

The beginning of the end
Eliza's diary
(FYI: This is Eliza's part of the story. The story will be told in many different point of views till they merge together.)

Gramps had been with me since we awoke from our deep sleep. No, I can't even remember when or how I started sleeping. My memories from before my deep sleep are slowly coming back. What I can remember was that before the deep sleep everyone was in a panic. Screaming, "I don't want to die.", "How are we supposed to survive this?" were most of the things the people said at that time. Right now, I really am still confused about everything, but I am very sure about two things, that I was at the age of seventeen and I did not have this ability before the deep sleep.

I sat on the pile of pipes staring at the fallen buildings and piles of debris. What was this world like before all the disasters striked? I still can't remember. Now staring at my hand, one of the cans from my lunch with Gramps was levitating slightly above it. I know this isn't normal, I wasn't like this before.

"Hey Eliza! Get down here! The news just came in!" Gramps shouted. I slid down the pipes to meet up with him.

"Now would you take a look at this?" He said as he showed me the news device. A holographic projection popped out with a 'beep'. "See here, right now they have a government, probably those previous politicians who survived. They say that we humans have evolved and anyone who experienced anything unusual has to go and report to them!"

I stepped back shocked. "Gramps, what do you think they would do to the people who have experienced 'unusual' things?" He turned to me and placed his hands on my shoulder looking very worried. "Don't tell me you have experienced these things?"
I assured him that I didn't but I didn't get an answer. The fact that Gramps was looking worried gave me an impression that what the government would do would not be a pretty sight. A part of me wanted to stay where I was, another part of me wanted to venture out into the world to discover why I had this ability and even perhaps what were the limits of it.

Night approached. I couldn't sleep, I had to go somewhere. I crept out of the warehouse, trying not to make a sound. I mean it was quite difficult for me, because I admit, I am a clumsy person. In the end, I did make a sound, a loud gasp in surprise. I was walking in the air! I closed the door behind me and tried to get myself back onto the ground. It was a terrible struggle, but I managed to do it just before the driver on the capital bus (the bus that heads for the capital, it floats, just like me!) caught sight of me floating.

The door swung open and the driver asked, "Headed for the capital, miss?" I nodded my head and took the seat nearest to the exit. I couldn't wait to get to the capital. I had a feeling that someone there could tell me the reason why I had what I had.
